Getting out in nature is one of the best family activities out there. From breathing in the fresh air to appreciating the world around you, hitting the trail is a wonderful way to make some memories. Unfortunately, it can take a lot of planning when you have younger kids. You have to figure out how many miles your child can last until a breakdown, how many miles you can last until a breakdown, and whether or not you actually need that super expensive baby carrier from REI. With a stroller-friendly trail, you can ditch all that planning and just get out in nature. Here are the best stroller-friendly trails in CT.
Trail starts at Calf Pasture Beach Rd
Norwalk, Connecticut 06855
The Norwalk River Valley Trail is currently working on building up 30 miles worth of trails and will connect Calf Pasture Beach in Norwalk to Rogers Park in Danbury. The trail has several options with all sorts of terrain. Most of the trails are paved in stone dust, but you will find hard surfaces and boardwalks along the way. All trails should be easily navigated by jogging strollers.

Trail Starts at 37 Halpin Lane
Ridgefield, Connecticut 06877
Ridgefield Rail Trail is an easy out-and-back trail that lasts 2.3 miles. The trail takes you through forests, across the suburbs, through little towns, and along a creek. This lovely stroller-friendly trail in CT is paved with concrete and is the ideal destination on a crisp fall morning. Hikers tend to park alongside Halpin Lane since the trailhead parking lot is limited.
Parking at 512 Pepper Street
Monroe, Connecticut 06468
The Pequonnock River Trail is a 16-mile multi-use trail from Bridgeport to Monroe. Along the way, you’ll pass through Trumbull and see forests, parks, restaurants, defunct mines, historic amusement parks, and golf courses. There are multiple options on where you can start, so you can choose as long or as short of a hike as you’d prefer.

Trail starts at Captain Thomas Blvd
West Haven, Connecticut 06516
The Savin Rock Trail is a 1.2-mile trail that lets out around Thomas Blvd. The paved stroller-friendly trail in CT takes you along the West Haven coastline and shows off some pretty stunning views of Long Island Sound. You can start off at Bradley Point Park and use their lot, but just know there is a parking fee.
Trail starts at 7-10 20A
Derby, Connecticut 06418
The Derby Greenway is a 2.05-mile paved trail that takes you along the Naugatuck and Housatonic Rivers. You can park at the Main Street parking lot before setting out on the historic trail. You’ll pass through the heart of Derby before crossing a scenic bridge and winding through O’Sullivan’s Island. If you do the entire trail, you’ll end at the Derby Hall of Fame plaza.

While hikes might feel overwhelming with younger kids, some trails make it easy to turn your child into a nature lover. Check out these stroller-friendly trails in CT today to find one your family will adore!
