As your cake smash photographer, my job is to make sure that the photo exists and that it looks exactly the way this moment actually felt.

My studio in Stratford is a calm, light-filled space designed to make babies feel at ease the moment they arrive. Every detail of your cake smash photography session is thoughtfully prepared before you walk through the door, from carefully chosen props and wardrobe to the custom cake for your baby’s first birthday. All you need to bring is your birthday baby. I’ll take care of the rest. I begin every session with a short portrait segment before the cake is introduced. These pre-smash photos capture your baby at their cleanest and most composed, dressed beautifully and full of personality. Then comes the cake, and everything that follows from that point is pure, unscripted joy.

Once the cake smash is complete, we’ll wrap up with a towel and a clean change of clothes so your little one leaves just as comfortable as they arrived.
What I love most about first birthday photography is that you cannot script it. You can plan every detail of the set and the wardrobe, and the moment that cake arrives your baby will do exactly what they want to do. My job is to be ready for all of it. The tentative first touch. The moment curiosity becomes commitment. The look they give you right after the first taste, as if they are genuinely surprised that the world contains something this good. I move at your baby's pace for the entire session. I watch for when they are settled and ready, and I never rush the process. Once your session is booked, I take over the logistics completely. We will discuss the look you have in mind, I will pull wardrobe options in your baby's size, and we will talk through timing so the session falls when your little one is at their best. You deserve to simply show up and enjoy it.

When should I book my cake smash session?
No, you don’t need to bring the cake. I partner with a local Fairfield County bakery to provide the smash cake for your session, so that detail is taken care of for you.
Do I need to provide the cake?
This happens more often than you might think, and it always makes for wonderful photos. Some babies are cautious explorers and some need a little encouragement before they commit to the mess. I am patient throughout, I never rush the process, and I know how to make a hesitant baby feel safe enough to eventually go for it. Whatever your baby gives us, we will work with it, and the resulting cake smash photos will be honest and lovely regardless.
What if my baby does not want to touch the cake?
You’ll have access to my curated client closet, with beautiful, timeless pieces selected specifically for babies and milestone sessions. We will start the session in a clean, beautiful outfit for the portrait portion of the first birthday cake smash and then change into something simpler before the cake is introduced. I will guide you through all of this during our planning call.
