Your one-year photo session is designed with your baby in mind from start to finish. Sessions typically begin with portraits, capturing your little one in their element before we bring in the cake. Whether you choose a studio session bathed in soft, natural light or a session designed around your baby’s personality, the experience will feel relaxed and personal. There’s no rushing, no rigid posing, and absolutely no pressure. Just you, your baby, and some seriously adorable moments waiting to be captured.
The one-year cake smash portion of the session is one of my absolute favorites to photograph. Watching a baby encounter a cake for the very first time, the tentative poke, the dawning realization that this is delicious, and the full-face dive that follows, is the kind of pure, unscripted joy that photographs beautifully every single time. I handle all the setup and styling so the only thing on your to-do list is to enjoy watching your baby go to town. As a baby milestone photographer, I know how to read your baby’s cues, keep the energy just right, and make sure we capture every expression worth keeping.

One thing I want everyone to feel during their session is comfortable & at ease. I keep things light-hearted, take cues from your baby, and keep the session moving. Before you know it, it’s over!
This is truly my favorite part of this whole experience. I come to your home with some treats & we will look at your images together and see the possibilities. We can explore options from custom framed artwork to heirloom albums, all the possibilities left up to you while I do the heavy lifting of ordering & installing.

I recommend booking your one-year photo session at least 6 to 8 weeks before your baby’s first birthday. Sessions are most popular in the weeks just before or just after the birthday, and spots fill up quickly, so reaching out early is key.
When should I book my one-year photo session?
Your one-year cake smash session includes portrait time before the cake, along with cake styling and setup. I handle the prop and styling details so you can arrive ready to enjoy the experience with your baby.
What is included in the one-year cake smash session?
For the portrait portion of your session, I recommend a sweet, coordinated outfit that reflects your baby’s personality. Light, soft tones photograph beautifully. For the cake smash, a simple outfit or even just a diaper cover works perfectly since things will get wonderfully messy. I’ll send you a full styling guide when you book.
What should my baby wear for their one-year portraits?
I offer baby milestone photography sessions across Connecticut. Where do one-year baby photo sessions take place?
The one-year milestone photo session is designed for babies around their first birthday, but I welcome any age milestone that matters to you. Whether your little one is 10 months, 13 months, or somewhere in between, if you want to celebrate and document this chapter, I’m here for it.
Is the one-year session only for babies turning one?
Yes! My Baby Plan Membership allows you to document your baby’s first year across 2 to 4 sessions. Families often choose pregnancy announcements, maternity, newborn, and one-year sessions. Members receive $200 off each collection, along with a custom set of 25 birth announcements.
