When you’re a kid, you’re always counting down the days until it’s summer break, and you can finally do whatever you want. When you’re a parent, these months can be a little more daunting. It feels like you’re wandering around surrounded by a constant chorus of loud screens and complaints of boredom. If you’re looking for a fun way to get out of the house this summer, I would love to help you out by telling you all about my favorite Fairfield public pool. With all these destinations, you’ll have the perfect place to go the next time you hear, “I’m so bored.”

Robert G. Beach Memorial Park is the ideal destination for your beach day. The area features over 175 acres of woodlands, playgrounds, and hiking trails. The Fairfield park includes a splash pad as well as a public pool with a capacity for 350 people. There is a graduated end, so little swimmers can stay where it’s shallow. The proximity to the beach makes for a pretty stunning view you can take in as you dry off.

In 2023, the pool received funding for renovations, including the installation of a splash pad to make it a more family-friendly destination.

The Riverport Regional YMCA has both indoor and outdoor public pools for year-round swimming just outside of Fairfield. There’s a 25-yard indoor pool complete with an inflatable slide. Once the weather heats up, you can head outside, where you’ll find a splash pad and a 50-meter pool. There’s also a roped-off area in the Kiwanis pond where you’ll find canoeing, mini boats, and inflatables.

The Lake Mohegan Splash Pad offers a shallow place to dip your toes into the water. Your kids will stay cool with overhead spouts that spray water during the warmer months. The splash pad is located right next to the lake’s beach, where older kids can dive right in. The beautiful park has restrooms and picnic tables.
