There’s something incredibly special about six months.
Your baby is no longer that sleepy newborn curled up in your arms—but they’re not yet the busy toddler chasing after everything in sight either. Six months is this beautiful in-between season, and it’s one of the sweetest milestones to photograph.
If you’ve been wondering why to schedule 6 month baby photos, my answer is simple: this stage passes so quickly, and it deserves to be remembered.
At six months, babies are often at their happiest and most expressive. The gummy smiles come easily. The giggles feel endless. Their little personalities are starting to shine through in such a fun and heart-melting way.
And then there are the baby rolls.
The chubby thighs.
The soft cheeks.
The tiny toes.
The way they grab at their feet or light up the second they see mom or dad.
It’s a season full of sweetness and connection—and one that changes faster than most parents expect.

By the time your baby turns one, they will look completely different.
The round cheeks start to slim.
The tiny rolls begin to stretch out.
They’re moving faster, becoming more independent, and looking more and more like a toddler every day.
That first birthday is so exciting, but six months captures a softness that doesn’t last long.
That’s exactly why I always encourage families to schedule 6 month baby photos while their baby is sitting independently.
Once babies can comfortably sit on their own, we’re able to capture so much variety in a session. They can sit upright, interact with simple textures, show off those bright smiles, and give us all of those adorable little expressions that make this age so memorable.
It also tends to be a really happy age for babies.
They’re curious.
They’re engaged.
They love eye contact.
And they often think mom and dad are the funniest people in the world.
That combination makes for incredibly natural, joyful portraits.
For my families, I schedule 6 month baby photos on weekdays in the studio.
The studio setting keeps everything calm and simple. We don’t have to worry about weather or timing around sunset, and the focus stays exactly where it should be: on your baby.
These sessions are intentionally easy and relaxed.
I guide you through everything, follow baby’s pace, and create timeless portraits that highlight exactly who they are right now—those tiny details, sweet expressions, and all of the little things you never want to forget.
And truly? These are some of my very favorite milestone sessions.
There’s just something magical about this age.
The smiles feel effortless.
The giggles are contagious.
Their little personalities are blooming.
It’s joyful and playful and tender all at once.
And years from now, when you look back at those images, you’ll remember exactly what this season felt like.
If you’ve been thinking about why to schedule 6 month baby photos, this is your reminder that now is the perfect time.
Once your baby is sitting independently, we can create beautiful studio portraits that preserve this fleeting chapter before it changes again.
Because six months is more than a milestone.
It’s a season worth holding onto.
